Jack continues to grow (about 40lbs!) and become more eloquent. He is as intelligible as most of his friends (which means sometimes it is still hard to understand him) and has a very large vocabulary, especially when it comes to trucks and trains.
He knows his letters and can write a few. He can spell his name if you ask him (more or less sometimes it is JECK). His fine motor skills are getting much better - his drawings vaguely look like what he wants them to.
He continues to be very interested in all things mechanical and building-related. For example, last night we ran out of hot water in the tub and he said he wanted to wait until the "water main" filled back up. He knows that is a big pipe under the street and that there are "branch lines" off of it. He likes that especially as Thomas (the train) runs a "branch line."
He has started some new classes lately. In February he started gymnastics at a local gym. He loves it so far - there are obstacle courses for him to go through - his favorite is swinging on the rope swing and sliding down this huge inflatable structure they have sometimes.

(That's him sliding down)
(That's Jack on the bars in the white shirt).
He also started ice skating lessons - just a 5 week class (25 minute classes). He struggled quite a bit, but by the end of his second class he could stand up on his own and move forward a few steps. I was super proud he kept trying though. He did want a little rest off-ice but he want back out again (which I wasn't sure he would!).
(Jack is in the green/black coat standing hunched over in the group).
We also have moved him to a twin bed. Jack picked out his own bedding from a catalog - the picture he wanted is below. He just loved it. I also showed him trucks/trains and space themes but this is what he picked unhesitatingly.I am psyched he picked something that can be for any age and matches the wall color and current accessories we have just fine. The only difference from the picture is that I have stuck with white sheets. A friend suggested always getting white sheets and then if the kids have some phase (spiderman, basketball) you can just get a pillow cases in that! They kids don't know the difference but they will be excited and you have only spent $15! So Jack has the nautical pillow-case only. We also have a Dr. Seuss one that matches his crib bedding and much of our wall art.

Nate!
He is about 29-29.5lbs and is quite tall - guessing 35-36" or so. He is mainly in 2T clothes but certainly many of his 18-24 months are still OK. He is in his 3T footed PJs and some 3T t-shirts (if they are cheap ones that shrink a bit). He is still fitting in his 7.5 shoes, but I don't think for long.
He communicates a lot more with a combination of signs and words. He says quite a few things (maybe 15? 20?) some new things are blue, green, Gordon (from Thomas), Duncan (from Thomas), Bob (like Bob the Builder). He also makes a siren noise. Most importantly he knows says "Yeah" if you ask him a question. It is quite cute. It is a touch embarrassing there are so many TV words, but I guess that is what being a younger does! He sometimes attempts to repeat things you say and at least mimics the syllables or noises, if not the exact word.
He is a train guy - loves to watch Thomas "I love Big Trains" and "Choo-Choo Bob" on tv. I have driven to a commuter rail station a few times so he can see them drive by and he is ecstatic. I wonder if it is genetic Pete?
He loves watermelon and cookies. Great...We haven't had any new allergy issues, but has gotten a bit hesitant to try new things. This isn't surprising as he doesn't get a lot of new things! Jack saw him take a sip of Jack's milk and Nate didn't have a reaction which is exciting, however we don't know how much he actually drank - possibly just a drop. His pedi is going to re-test his blood for allergies (this is not as accurate as the scratch tests the allergists do) at his 2 year, we think. If there are changes maybe then we will do another set of tests at the allergist.
He takes about a 2hr nap from 1-3. He goes to bed around 7:30 and is up at 6:45 with 1-2 wakings. (I am a wuss and don't let him cry!).
He still is a climber and very active. He moves stools all around and grabs at things in the kitchen. He loves to knock things down and dump things.
He likes to knock the books off the shelf, but also enjoys looking through them a lot.
