Corporate Recruiting

Apparently the "war for talent" is starting earlier and earlier...

The latter is one of mommy and daddy's favorite outfits. It is very apt for our family! I come from a very long line of mac-users even my great-grandmother is a fan. There is a family photo of a Christmas where all my great aunts/uncles and their kids, my grandparents, dad, uncle and great grandparents have a powerbook or ibook in their hands. There were a lot of Macs in that house!

michigan trip

Here is a slideshow of some of the pics I like best from our trip. (These are only collected from those mommy took. I think about 5000 pictures were taken by a variety of people!).

Northworst..

This post is from mommy since I slept the entire flight so I missed this entire episode.....

Well, Jack's first experience on Northwest got us to our final destination on time (actually a little early?!) both ways, but they did show some remarkable stupidity!

On our flight from Traverse City to Detroit this morning we had been sitting on the runway for about 15 minutes after leaving the terminal. This was a little odd since it is a small airport with no waits for runways, but it is Northwest, so I wasn't shocked. I looked up briefly as the flight attendant walked by and it seemed she was counting the passengers again, as she had done 15 minutes before as we pulled away from the terminal. I thought she only counted me (I was sitting next to Jack), but wasn't really paying attention and didn't know what/why she was counting so let it be as I didn't want to mess up her count. On her way back to the front of the plane I overheard someone up ahead ask what the delay was about. She said they couldn't reconcile the count at the gate with the people on the plane. About 1 minute later she counts again and when she gets to us I pay attention and she clearly doesn't count Jack. This time I stopped her and told her we paid for his seat.

Note to those not used to traveling with babies: You can carry kids under 2 on your lap for free. If there is an empty seat on the plane they may let you use it for your child if you have a car seat with you. OR you can buy a seat for the child, which is what we did.

A look of horror: "Uh...Oh, that's it." Without saying thank you or apologizing to anyone, she stops her count goes back up front and picks up the phone. Apparently she just assumed (even AFTER 15 minutes of trying to figure out a passenger count) that he was let on for free.

One would think we would take off almost immediately now that they realized their error in not counting the baby. However it took about another 5 minutes for the "computer" to be ready. Anyway, in the end we were only about 10 minutes late in to Detroit but there were some people running to connections because of this.

Dumb, just Dumb.

First Dip!

Ok, well it was just his toes in this picture, but he did get wet up to his knees a few seconds later. He seemed to like it better than anticipated. (Luckily this lake is relatively small, so the water was quite warm!)

Family

I am very much enjoying spending time with my family. This is GG (great grandma) Ceelee and GG Pa. Behind us is one of the lovely lakes in Michigan...

Off we go!

I got to travel in my first airplane AND I turned 2 months old on Tuesay. I was very nice to mom and dad and slept almost the entire flight to Detroit and was quiet and alert on my flight to Traverse City. I wasn't all perfect though, I did wake up at 2:30 to eat when we all had to get up at 3:30!

Having so much fun in MI...

...haven't had time to upload my pictures. I liked the airplane and had a great time meeting my great-grandparents, great aunt and great uncle and aunt. I promise I will post some soon.

Hmm, is this trip to Michigan a good idea?

Let me ponder it....

Ok, that sounds fun,but I am not letting go of my favorite toy, no matter if I am sleeping!

what timing..

Just after I posted my last entry, Mommy just got an email that Dr. Seuss has allowed Dartmouth to license his work for their use (apparently they are the first college to get approved)...

I think this and this are my favorites:)

How Much

did you say you had to study to get in? I didn't know mommy and daddy were such nerds in high school. I am not quite sure I want to go that route yet, but I do like my outfit (one of many, mommy tells me, that say "Dartmouth" on it somewhere).

Off to work?! Already?!

Mommy told me she quit her job, but strangely I found myself in her old office for 5 hours on Monday and on Tuesday. Apparently she is very nice and agreed to help out her old coworkers on a major project with a tight deadline! Luckily for me there a ton of super-friendly people there that were beyond thrilled to see me. They were impressed at how well-behaved I was. I pretty much slept and smiled except when mommy hadn't fed me in awhile when I needed to whimper a bit.

They put out the welcome mat for us...(This is a small flat panel in the waiting area with scrolling slides that welcomes guests to the IHI and NICHQ office).

Stressful

Being a baby is so challenging - mom and dad sometimes don't know what I want and need. At times it is enough to make me try to pull my hair out. I know they try hard, so I forgive them.

Bad Ass Jack

He is telling you what to do and can't even be bothered to open his eyes to express it!

In addition to being adorable, the pants are in honor of his first visit from his uncle Teddy, who just got back from officer training in Ft. Lewis.

Happy Baby!

This picture is indicative of the past week or so. Jack has started smiling a lot and also having "cooing conversations" with us. It has been a delight!
