Picture time...

I was going to get the boys pictures take together today, but alas Jack got bonked on the cheek yesterday and has a huge bruise (in addition to the scratch on his forehead), so I decided to just have Nate's done. This probably prevented a bruise on Nate's head too;/ (Jack doesn't much like flashes at the moment).

Fun Day!

First this morning we had class (with both boys) at the local center where I always took Jack. Nate LOVED playing with the "goop" (corn starch & water).

Then we went to an open house at a local town's DPW with some friends. Jack got to sit in all sorts of trucks, and unlike last spring, he LOVED it.

As you can see, Nate's hair is getting SO very very blonde.

Mini-Soccer

It is hilarious, but our town has a park & rec department class from 2-3 year olds to learn soccer. I wasn't sure what I thought about it, but thought Jack would like to run around outside with other kids. I was pleasantly surprised to find it is actually quite age-appropriate in terms of content (what shape is a soccer field? this is how we pass and kick) but about 15 minutes too long for their attention span. 45 minutes would be MUCH better than an hour. The lure of the playground next to the field is too much. We, and many of the parents, head over to the playground before the class really ends, no need to push them, the point is to get out and move.

Unobservant Mommy

Nate has a tooth! It just broke through. I had thought he was teething but ALWAYS think he is teething when he doesn't sleep well. This time I was right. It is his lower left front tooth.

Hopefully he can sleep more than 2 hours straight tonight.

10 Month Update (late)

oh Boy! We have a climber. Nate can climb stairs and onto (low) chairs. He can also get to tiptoe when his hands are supported by something (leaning on a couch, for example).

* Nate crawls super fast, cruises fast and pulls to standing and sits with ease. On grass he can stand for a few seconds, but he isn't so good on regular floors.Strangely, he doesn't really walk when you hold his fingers like many kids.

* Still babbling quite a bit, and still loves his pacifier.

* Nate definitely is reacting to milk products. He has had a number of reactions so he won't be getting any dairy products for a few more months. None of the reactions have been severe- a dose of benadryl completely stops it. It is scary and certainly a nuisance. We obviously hope this is his only allergy (sometimes kids have many) and he outgrows in quickly.

* He eats solids at all 3 meals - approximately 2 jars of baby food at lunch/dinner and 1 at breakfast plus a lot of puffs. We also give some finger foods - he really likes avocado.

* Diaper changes are nearly impossible. He is So squirmy it is unbelievable.

*Still no teeth...

* He is napping 2x a day, for about 60-90 minutes or so. He goes done reasonably well, but not without some fuss.

* He night sleeping isn't good. He goes down very easily, but wakes a lot.

* Nate waves good-bye and sometimes hello. He also waves when he hears the word good-bye. He puts up his hand for "high-five."

* Nate likes peek-a-boo and to be tickled.

Sandbox!

With some advice from Grandpa Pete, Jack & Steve finished the sandbox yesterday!

SandBox built for 2 (or 3, 4, 5...)

Steve decided that he wanted to build the boys a bigger sandbox - both enjoy them immensely but our little frog wasn't quite big enough for 2.

Thanks to bob vila online, we now have a completed sandbox with paint drying in our garage.

This is early progress...more when it is set up in place.

For those that care, it is 4 by 6.

Love that Dirty Water...

No clean water + 2 sick kids in diapers + 90 degree weather + small building (sandbox - more later) project = lots and lots of purell!

So, as of Saturday afternoon we haven't had potable water. We have water pressure and can shower (kids sponge bathe). We are choosing to listen to the websites (state DEP) that say it is safe to use the sanitizing cycle on the dishwasher and ignore those sites that say it isn't safe. The kids plates don't go in this cycle - too hot - so we are really on risking ourselves. Basically we have clean(ish) pond water coming through the taps. I figure if I would eat after swimming in a pond without washing my hands (which I have done innumerable times) we will be fine. For dinner we went to a restaurant 2 towns over, where there is no boil water order.

We are not sure why people are fighting for bottled water at stores, boiling works perfectly well. That said, I had to go to our local Stop & Shop yesterday and they did have bottled, so I bought a case. I didn't see any stress among shoppers even though the water was coming out slowly from the back.

They are now saying we should have water in 24-48 hours - let's hope - as that is when Steve leaves for Brussels.
