What I did on my summer vacation.. Part II

We

read the newspaper..

swam in the big lake and played in the sand...

Played at the playgroud...

Went to a Children's Museum...

What I did on my summer vacation.. Part I

The trip started out with 2 parties - first we got to celebrate Peter's big birthday including a surprise visit from (Aunt) Katie and (Uncle) Andy. Everyone (but Anne) thought they couldn't make it, but then, just as food was about to be served, I turned around and there they were in the house!

Then we had a big get-together with most of Steve's mom's family. All three great-grandkids were there, a first. It was essentially paparazzi taking photos of this - I think there were at least 4 different cameras on them.

You can tell Jack already looks up to his "big cousin" Robby.

Oh, and we all took a train ride! Jack is for sure a Magoun - as he really liked the ride.

14 Month Update - Very very late

This is really really short one in addition to being very very late..

* He can walk with much more confidence and much faster. He can walk longish distances and is learning to walk while holding my hand. He still falls a lot.

* He is still eating the same stuff, but has started really drinking from his sippy cups - both milk and water.

* He is down to one nap, around lunch time. Night sleep is still erratic.

* He signs light, fan, flower pretty much everytime he sees one.

* He makes lots of word-like sounds, but no more real words yet... I was a late talker too..

Cape Adventures..

Ok, well the weather wasn't so great so there are no beach pictures, but we had a nice time watching Rebel (my mom's dog) while my Mom & Rick were at wedding festivities. I suppose that is more than fair as my Mom watched Jack at our friends wedding in May.

Jack took a bit of a tumble while I was out and he had his first bloody nose:( You can see he is a little scratched up in one of the close-ups. The dog loved chasing Jack around and giving him "kisses." The last picture is Jack signing "flowers" - a new one. (It isn't the true ASL Flower - one I learned to go with a song, but regardless, he knows it:)

Children's Museum

We had our first visit to the Boston Children's Museum yesterday. I was excited to bring Jack there as I remember going as a kid with my parents and loving it. As Jack gets older there will be MUCH more for him to do there, but I was much impressed with it even at this age.

We spent our time at the under 3 room. It had a lot of climbing structures, a huge train table, a fish tank, a place to play with foam/bubbles, a little car, puzzles and lots of push toys. It also had a kitchen for communal use including highchairs, a fridge, a dishwasher, etc. There was also a private nursing room, rocking chairs, a library and a family bathroom so you really could be in there for awhile without having to leave. I was impressed at how well stocked it was.

Jack's most impressive moment was when he climbed up the small slide all by himself. (I know I shouldn't really encourage it, but he seemed so determined...)

Forgot!

I was going to post this early in the week..

Steve, Jack and I had a lovely walk along the Charles River on Sunday. It was a nice day and we planned to be there when Memorial Drive is closed to traffic creating a "park". Alas, it doesn't close until later than we though - regardless it was a nice change of pace.
