Children's Museum

So, there was an ad about Curious George exhibit at the Boston Children's Museum, so I finally got my act together and got some friends together to go. (I hadn't been since Jack was about 15 months?). I also joined the museum so hopefully we will make the most of it. There is reciprocal privileges at a ton of other museums besides along 6, yes 6 people to enter!

We had a great time, Jack liked it, but was a bit overwhelmed too I think. It is mobbed, even on a random Thursday morning. We only saw about 20% of the place, so there is a lot to bring us back!

Jack's favorite activity was opening the "elevator" doors in George's "apartment building" entryway to reveal the fire fighters (see pic above with both boys). He did this for over and over.

He also really liked a room where you dropped golf balls into all sorts of contraptions with ramps and funnels, etc. (last picture)

I am not entirely sure, though, if the subway ride was the most exciting bit of all.

Sweet

I put Nate in his chair the other day, and Jack instantly said he wanted to read Nate a book!

We have a crawler

You can hear Jack jabbering in the back about putting more air in the balloon Nate is crawling towards so it will go up.

Fun with friends

We visited my friend Kerry (of 20 years!) and her daughter yesterday. It has been in the works for literally months between all our kids colds/fevers & misc diseases.

Abby is 11 months old and thought Jack was just fascinating. Jack thought their pets were fascinating. Nate liked all her toys.

8 Months!

Nate rolls all around, he can get from seated to tummy, back to seated.

Nate squirms all around - he pushed backwards and pivots with ease. He gets on his hands/knees and rocks. He can also get on tiptoes & hands - sort of like downward dog (for those that know yoga) without his butt so high. Basically he can get where he needs to go, though not super efficiently. He is very very close to a true crawl. Then there will be no stopping him!

Nate can pull up to his knees and is trying very hard to pull up to standing. He can pull up to standing in the crib (though I have only seen him do it once at the new, lowered height.

He continues to eat well - he eats purees 2 times a day and sometimes has some banana or avocado in a little mesh feeding bag in addition. We have tried to give him some puffs & cheerios, but he can't quite eat them without coughing them back out. Has does like to suck on pizza crusts.

He has started to really enjoy music and will wiggle his body when he hear something he likes.

His sleeping was horrible most of the month with many night wakings and short naps. The last week or so (last night the exception) hasn't been as bad. He even had a couple of nights where he slept 8-5 and then again to 7. I am not sure what is normal now. He does go down extremely easily at bedtime (he falls asleep on his own).

He is solidly in his 12-18 month clothes, most of the 6-12 month ones are too small.

Daddy's Helper - building

And Nate using the end product...

Getting ready for spring

We spent all day yesterday (pretty much) playing with our new neigbors. They are extremely nice and have sons who are in kindergarten (almost 6 I think) and less than a month younger than Jack! Steve got some demo done in the back yard (removed remaining mess of a fence) and I weeded a bit of our flower beds. The flower are sprouting!

It was glorious weather - sunny and it felt like the mid 60s in the son.

Odd request

A few weeks ago Jack wanted to go IN the sink- luckily we have a huge one so I could have some fun with it.
