Park Fun

We had fun at 2 new parks this week. I finally brought the boys to a small (I think it is for kingergartners) side playground at the school around the corner. I discovered it is pretty shady in the morning, a big plus. It also is mainly fenced in, helpful for me with 2.

We also went to a spray park in a neighboring town. There are lots of boulders to climb on as well as 2 nice structures for small kids, swings and lots of covered picnic tables. It also, amazingly, had lifeguards/first aid stations and bathrooms. We will be back soon. We went there with one of my oldest friends, Kerry and her daughter Abby. They had exciting news while we were there, too. She is now an Aunt!

Cousins

Steve's cousins and their kids stopped by during their visit to MA last week. It was wonderful they could squeeze in a visit during their hectic travel plans.

Jack was very tired, and very excited which is a bad combination for behavior, but it was great to catch up in person. I think Jack is very confused by Robby + family though. In the last 12 months we have seen them 3 times in MA, once in MI and once in FL. I don't think Jack believes me when I say Robby lives in CA:)

Monkey See, Monkey Do

-- both Jack and Nate trying to wear their sunglasses on their heads like mom & dad. They were doing it nearly simultaneously, as soon as I tried to put them on them at the beach.

More Cape Pictures

The first 2 are from the Cape Museum of Natural History - a kids museum - in Brewster.

More of Nate's Birthday

Nate had fun on his birthday, we had a trip to the beach (West Dennis, for those who care), and he loved loved it. He liked to sit/stand at the edge of the water and splash and crawl. He is pretty fearless (see upcoming development update) so kept me on my toes. He also liked the sand. (Jack really only wanted to go to the swings at our trips to the beach this trip to the Cape, on the other hand).

We also had cake (which was free of allergens), but he didn't even touch it save to flip over the plate and squish it a bit (see first picture).

* Nate is a walker. He walks all around the house. He still loses his balance and falls, but not very often. It is his preferred mode of movement at this point.

* He says balloon, and possibly mama (and mean it).

* He likes books a lot, especially "where's spot?" - which is a lift the flap book.

* He is fearless. He will climb things (onto stools, for example), if on the couch, up onto the end table etc. He is constantly bonking his head. He took dive into an empty tub 2 times and really hit his head on the side of the tub at the Cape. He will try to climb up slides and up anything else at a playground. Jack was much more aware of his own limitations, even at this age.

* He was 24.5lbs on our bathroom scale today (his 1 year appt isn't for 2 weeks). He is still in his 12-18 month clothes, but some of his 18-24 ones are fine too.

* He is sleeping about 7-6, getting up about 2 times. He naps 2 times, for about 60-90 minutes (generally, there is pretty big variation here).

* He has 2 teeth only.

* He likes to "talk" on his phone and chases Jack around trying to steal his favorite toys or whatever Jack happens to be playing with. (I'll leave it to your imagination to figure how that turns out).

School Year Wrap Up

Jack had his last day of his "beginners" class last week. He had a wonderful year. He loved (nearly) every second of school.

Here is a picture of his first and last day of school:

Last Day

Here is some of his "portfolio" of art they sent home with him.

I believe this is a butterfly/caterpillar & cacoon.

The face is Jack's "self-portrait" he did at the beginning of the year.
