Jack loved Maine, and kept telling random people in the hotel and street that we were in "in maine." Fairly funny... He also loved that our hotel room was up high (9th floor) and that the city had a million parking lots with gates. He loves gates at the moment. Overall the highlight of his trip was the train ride at the Main Narrow Gauge Railroad. It was pouring rain, so the view wasn't what it could have been, but a good time was had by all.
The waitstaff at one Mexican restaurant were so impressed by the boys' behavior we got free hats! (Seriously 2 different staffers commented on their demeanor, and we didn't even think Jack was all that perfect that evening. They must usually get horrible brats.)
The highlight for Steve and I was the view at the Portland Head Light. It was a glorious day and the waves crashing ashore were fantastic. We agreed it was some of the best scenery we had seen in awhile.
We definitely will be returning for more weekends in the future. I know we have lots of family and friends that can point out even prettier places to visit.
And last but not least a picture for Grandpa Pete.

Sounds like a great trip! We want to hear more!
The restaurant folk are right-- you do have two great kids!
And thanks for the P-3 pic! You won't get many more of those in a year or two, mostly because they're closing NAS Brunswick just up the road.
Pete
Sounds like you had a great time. You certainly do have train radar!
