Just because...

I can, here are some cute pics of Nate.

We have had a busy couple of weeks. Last Weds/Thurs/Fri we needed to be out of the house pretty much from wake-up to bedtime to avoid the painters. We used all no-VOC (non smelly) paint, so that wasn't a problem, but we didn't want to get in their way and slow them down at all.

Some random facts/updates

Nate has started to grab at things and can hold things if you put them in his hand. He has cooing conversations and giggles, especially if you subtly startle him. He likes being on the changing table and doesn't mind tummy time for about 5-10 minutes. As is the case with most babies, mirrors are very fascinating. He is so well behaved I wonder when he will get his revenge on us. He sleeps all night (from about 10:30-7, sometimes as long as 9!) and generally is just very happy.

Jack has had 2 full days at school now and seems to love it. He has no issues being dropped off at all so far (knock on wood). He is still in love with trucks (especially firetrucks) and sports. He always wants to be outside too. He is quite amazing at throwing things (people randomly comment on it when they see him at classes/ in the yard etc). He has started swim lessons and is ecstatic about them...which reminds me I better find a class for him when this 6 week session ends! He has also hit the "me, me" stage - he wants to do things himself and has decided ignoring us is hilarious. He is not as well-behaved as he used to be and has started to try to do things for attention. Things to work on (for all of us!)

Delays

There has been a big delay in posting. We are in the middle of having our family room, dining room, front hall, stairwell and upstairs halls painted (oh, along with parts of the front porch!). We haven't been home much and all our things are in disarray. The good news is everyone is healthy, Jack loves school so far and the house is going to look great! Pics to come...

Jack & Nate update

Today was supposed to be jack's first real day of school, but alas he has croup. I knew that sending him to school would probably result in a lot more disease, but didn't expect it quite so quickly! Doh! He is in ok spirits and should be fine for school on Friday.

Nate had his 2 month check-up today and all is well. He is 13 lbs 10oz and 25 inches long. That puts him at the 97th for height He is was "only" 85th for weight.

First day of school!

Jack had a mini-day at school today (90 minutes instead of 4 hours) and he did great. He barely noticed I was leaving. Once he got sight of his teachers and classroom he was so excited to "dig in" (literally, in a sandbox). He was very excited to see me and to show me what he had done when I picked him up too. The school makes the transition pretty easy for the "beginners" class (2 year olds). We visited together on Wednesday to get a feel for the place. Also, the teachers all came to our house last week to meet Jack and discuss the first few days. Coincidentally, we literally walked right by one of our teachers the day after the home visit. She is our neighbor it turns out!

Whoa! I am 2 months old

An update on Nate:

He sleeps from about 10:30pm - 7:30am regularly. This is FANTASTIC. I have no complaints if he keeps that up. He sleeps off and on all day too. I don't have him on any sort of nap schedule yet.

He loves being in a Bjorn or a sling. He also likes the car seat or stroller. Basically he is a boy on the move.

He pretty much only fusses if he is hungry or has been put down for too long and is bored of his environment.

He smiles at people all the time, and makes lots of cute cooing noises.

His fists are starting to open and he is starting to try to grab for things (very very unsuccessfully).

All and all he is a SUPER baby:)

(almost) 2 month photo shoot

Fun Weekend

We had visitors (Grandma Linda, Rick, Teddy & GG Sue) on Sunday. Monday we went downtown. Jack/Nate and I had ventured down to the Public Garden / Boston Common on Tuesday and Jack wanted to go on the Swan Boats. I wasn't quite up for that by myself with a toddler and a 2 (gasp) month old, so we returned. It was a fabulous day. We also encountered a pro-healthcare reform march so Nate got his first tasted of liberal Mass. Our favorite signs "The naysayers are wrong" and "Jesus treated those with pre-existing conditions."
